PRO 6 needs 200 new cops
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 is now preparing for the recruitment of 200 new policemen starting June 1, 2007.
In a memorandum from the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management, Camp Crame, PRO6 was directed to accept and evaluate applicants' folders while clearance for the conduct of the actual recruitment and selection process is still pending for confirmation with the National Police Commission (Napolcom).
Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay Sr., PRO 6 director, said Western Visayas is still in need of personnel especially to augment the Mobile Groups. He also noted that, in the previous election, the lack of personnel was apparent, there being a need for 2,500 cops to augment the security in polling centers.
As provided for in Republic Act 6975 as amended, the minimum qualifications for the Police Officer 1 appointment are as follows: he or she must be a citizen of the Philippines; a person of good moral character; must pass the psychiatric or psychological, drug and physical tests; must posses a formal baccalaureate degree; must be eligible; must not have been dishonorably discharged from military employment or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government;
Must not have been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude; must be at least 1.62 meters in height for male and 1.57 meters for female, must weigh not more or less five kilograms from the standard weight corresponding to his or her height, age and sex; must not be less than twenty one nor more than thirty years of age.
Aside from those general qualifications, eligibility standard also is a vital factor. An appointee must possess the appropriate eligibility acquired from any of the following examinations: RA 1080 (Bar and Board exam), PNP Entrance Examination, RA 6506 (Licensure Examination for Criminology Graduates), PD No. 907 (Granting Civil Service Eligibility to College Honor Graduates) and the CSC Second level Eligibility (PO1/Police Officer).
Mandatory Requirements are also required for every applicant: Revised CSC Form 212, birth certificate authenticated by NSO, eligibility (authenticated by PRC, CSC), two pieces 2x2 black and white picture indicating applicants name, Transcript of Scholastic Records and Diploma (duly authenticated by the school registrar), clearance from barangay, local police station, RTC, MTC, and the NBI, and medical certificate. It should be submitted in white folders with tabbing to police office or unit in the respective city or provinces for initial processing.
