TMEU identifies two problem areas in city
The Traffic Management and Engineering Unit (TMEU) has identified two problem areas in the city yet it seems that the said traffic body could not do anything about it.
In his report to Mayor Jerry Treñas TMEU chief Senior Insp. Bob Foerster identified the two traffic problem areas in the city, namely, Plazoleta Gay-Ledesma Street (fronting Unitop) and a portion of the Diversion Road.
Said areas are usually congested as drivers of public utility jeepneys (PUJs) normally stop to wait for passengers.
Foerster's report showed that for three days alone, the Special Operation Team composed of PNP traffic and traffic aides have arrested 47 driver violators in said areas.
However, the same report did not contain the penalties imposed to the erring drivers. The report only carries the name of the drivers, temporary operators permit number, violation committed and the name of the apprehending officers.
Foerster, however, assured that they will be initiating strategic plans to address the concerns in said problem areas.
To recall, TMEU was recently subject of complaints from some van operators for favoring other transport groups to enter the city.
Under the Perimeter Boundary Ordinance (PBO) all public utility vehicles coming from the municipalities are only limited to the designated terminals.
