PGMA extends hand of conciliation to political enemies

Apparently extending a hand of conciliation to her political enemies, the President yesterday thanked former Senate President Franklin Drilon and Iloilo Gov. Niel Tupas Sr. for the construction of the new Iloilo international airport and for the country's recent economic gains.

PGMA releases P50 M for Guimaras rehab

JORDAN, Guimaras -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo announced here yesterday the allocation of P50 million for the ongoing rehabilitation of Guimaras which was affected by the MT Solar I oil spill last year.

The President made the announcement during the inauguration of the P7-million Petron Library Hub intended to support the educational upliftment and comprehensive human development of school children in this island province.

PGMA turns over of P12-million worth of projects in Guimaras

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo visited Guimaras Wednesday to turn over projects expected to spur the development of the province and hasten its recovery after the 2006 Solar I oil spill incident.

Suspects in Peña ambush arrested

Combined operatives of the police Regional Mobile Group (RMG) and military counterparts now have in custody two suspects who ambushed Mayor-elect Magdaleno Peña of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental and his bodyguards. One is believed to be the team leader in what stands as the most daring ambush in Western Visayas.

Save Our Souls: SOS children learn to appreciate visual arts

Last May 31, 2007 , kids from the Save Our Souls Children Village have been given a privilege to learn how to paint which was sponsored by the Iloilo Rotary Club. The learning workshop was held at the Museo de Iloilo from May 31 until June 2, 2007. They were accompanied by their village educator Roquita Batogon and their instructor was Norman Posecion, one of the professional artists of Museo de Iloilo.
