Treñas named Ambassador for Peace
Another feather on the cap was added to Mayor Jerry Treñas after he was named asAmbassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) for his "exemplary contributions in the building of peace."
The title will be conferred to him during the UPF International Leadership Conference. The conference is part of the activities of the Global Peace Festival slated on December 11 to 12 in Metro Manila.
With such honor, Treñas will join UPF's global network of Ambassadors for Peace worldwide "to bring civil society solutions to global problems." UPF is a global network of individuals and organizations committed to peace building through dialogue, education and service.
The title will be received by city tourism officer Benito Jimena in behalf ofthe chief executive. Jimena is in Manila to join Dinagyang Atub-Atub tribe. The UPF also invited Atub-atub to perform during the culminating activity at the Quirino Grandstand on Dec 12.
The presence of Atub-atub tribe in the UPF's culminating activity is another opportune time for the Dinagyang to show its performance being the country's top festival. At the same time, the event will also serve as venue to draw more visitors in next year's Dinagyang festival.
