Service Beyond Borders

by the Rotary Club of Midtown Cubao-Quezon City.
The Rotary Club of Midtown Cubao of District 3780 donated money to the victims of the typhoon Frank that hit Panay Island. It was facilitated by PP Lion Flor(Baby) Certeza of Iloilo Emarald Lions Club,Inc.
I visited Manila and I was invited by my brother Caloy de Guzman to speak at their Rotary meeting about the devastations and the aftermath of the storm. I brought clippings from several newspapers and talked about the true extent of the sufferings and damages of those affected.
This is a pioneering experience of two different civic organizations: Rotary and Lions helping together to make a difference. We made history.
This is a service that extends beyond borders. The Rotarians contributed to the Emerald Lions, not to draw praise or recognition but to make life batter for others. They saw on TV and they read in the newspaper the devastation brought by the Flash Flood cause by tuphoon Frank and the Rotarias of Midtown Cubao want to help. These are the heroes, the best in the community that know the art of giving. The feeling of pride and satisfaction that comes from the heart cannot be duplicated.
The club and the beneficiaries
We must continue to help out because there are more people who have not gotten back to their normalcy before the storm. As long as there's a need, we will be there working together with other civic organizations.
On July 19, 2008, the officers and members of the Iloilo Emerald Lions Clubs,Inc. distributed the relief goods to Barangay Tagbak and Tabuc Suba. These are two from the numerous places hit by the floods.
