No stone was left unturned when top stylist Boni Gaverza transformed the ballroom of the Centennial Resort Hotel and Convention Center into a beautiful barrio fiesta scene for the 100th birthday of Lola Consuelo Tambanillo Siaton. The party was given by her loving daughters Lydia Padilla-Ferrer and Norma Padilla-Rosales.
It was complete with festive bandiritas, a bahay kubo, bamboo poles and pabitin games. The hotel service attendants were in their complete costumes --- the men in their camiso chino and buri hats while the ladies were in their colorful baro't saya. A rondalla ensemble by the West Visayas State University led by Prof. Ronnie Libutaque was stationed at the entrance to welcome the 220 guests with melodious repertoire.

The guests were feted to a fantastic array of Filipino cuisine specially prepared by the hotel's Chef Cyril Ticao under the supervision of charming General Manager Edmund Valencia. Food were served on banana leaves and clay pots. The famous University of San Agustin Kawilihan Dance Troupe performed the Pamulinawen, Maglalatik and Tinikling. Kudos to Annie Divinagracia-Sartorio, their artistic director, who was also present.
A special presentation by family members was one of the highlights of the party. A folk dance with a modern twist was presented by the grand children and with their kids headed by the glamorous sisters Pangging and Pane Rosales. The dance choreography was by jazz dance artist Joe Delina no less! Grandson, Congressman Jeffrey Ferrer of the 4th District of Negros Occidental, spoke of fond memories of Lola Consuelo.

Next was a rendition of old Ilonggo songs by Lydia and Norma who is famously known as Punay, the great singer of Ilonggo folk songs in the early 60's.
The biggest surprise of all was when Lola Consuelo, while listening to Norma sing, belted out a composo song, which brought the house down with her golden voice. Everyone was touched by the whole thing that had many ladies in tears.
What a night! what a beautiful party! What a happy 100 years for Lola Consuelo! Cheers!
