It's Grandparents' Day on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008. And, as we Ilonggos are always crazy about food and always linking that to special occasions, this is another opportunity to gather the family, eat and be merry as we pay tribute to our grandparents.
One exciting food experience is "La Dulce Vita" at The Promenade on Sunday.
Rey Ponsaran, food and beverage manager of Days Hotel and another veteran food consultant Miner del Mundo will be preparing an authentic Italian fare. The sumptuous treats are Minestrone alla Milanes (soup); Baked Oyster au Gratin, Italian Veal Roll, Bruschetta and Crostini (starters); Spicy Calamari Salad, Baked Italian Salad and Tri-colore Pasta Salad (salads); Sicilian Beef Casserole, Chicken Cacciatore, Lasagna, Baked Seafood with Herbs and Walnuts, Eggplant Parmigiana, Country-Style Risotto and Steamed Rice (main courses); Roast Pork with Garlic and Rosemary (carvery); and Torta Siciliana, crème Caramel, Biscoti, Tiramisu, Walnut Cake, Hazelnut and Pistachio Crunch, Crepe Station and Halo-Halo Bar (desserts).
Quick Fry of Three Sea Flavors.
Ponsaran and del Mundo are backed by years of experience in the food industry.
Ponsaran told the writer about La Dulce Vita during one fine Sunday lunch at The Promenade. I learned that the restaurant prepares a lunch buffet every Sunday, called the Family Feast, which is an ideal place for families to gather after attending mass.
We were joined by radiologists Drs. Cora Martinez and Ruben Martirez, who kept coming back for more. As it turns out, they are also regular diners of The Promenade. The snapshots of the food here were taken during that lunch date.
Indulge!
