DENR to implement full blast ‘Kakas poster’ April 23
Candidates who do not know their obligation to protect the environment must start getting their posters on the trees before these are pulled down by the DENR and destroyed by the Comelec.
DENR 6 Exec. Dir. Julian Amador said they will do full blast “Kakas Poster” operation starting April 23 onwards, and this will render the posters useless and a waste of money.
Amador had issued a memorandum to all the PENROs and CENROs, in coordination with the Comelec and the PNP to start pulling down the posters nailed on trees, as Comelec cannot do this because of inadequate manpower.
Amador said there are “Kakas Poster” teams organized all throughout the region, tasked not only to get rid of the posters but will cause the names of the top violators to be published in the media.
He said hanging or nailing of posters on trees destroy the latter and that it is the responsibility of those who desire to be leaders of the country to set the example of being environmentalists.
He also said that many candidates use environment as their platform of government and they should start by appreciating trees which are supposed to clean the air that we breathe. (PIA6/ESS)
