Suspected gun-for-hire shot dead
An alleged hired killer operating in the city and province of Iloilo was gunned down Saturday evening at Brgy. Tabuc Suba, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.
Reports said that Giovanni Guanco, 46, of Igang, Pototan, Iloilo, was shot dead after they aborted an alleged mission to liquidate a politician in Guimaras province.
Aside from gunshot injury on his buttocks, Guanco was shot on his head with the use of a 12-gauge shotgun.
Reports said that Guanco was on his way home when armed men run after him.
“Hindi pa natin ma-establish masyado dahil wala pa tayong mga witnesses na lumbabas considering na gabi na ng mangyari at umuulan pa nang mangyari ang krimen,” said Barotac Nuevo Police Station chief Senior Insp. John Paul Tuvera.
But information revealed that Guanco, along with two other men, was seen in Guimaras province a week ago.
They were allegedly hired by a still undisclosed individual to kill a member of the Guimaras provincial board.
However, the group aborted the plan after the target of the liquidation plot became aware of their presence.
Reports said that the victim was suspect to some murder and carnapping cases.
He was also a suspect to a robbery incident in Barotac Nuevo two years ago.
