P55-million Libacao infra project to start soon
LIBACAO, Aklan – With high hopes to contribute to the progress of Libacao, the national government through the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has allocated P55-million rehabilitation fund for the improvement and repair of the town’s river wall project.
Libacao mayor Charito Navarosa said the P55-million is solely budgeted for the town of Libacao as part of the initial P600-million fund allocation for Panay Island, that includes repair of the Valderama road in Antique province for P50 million and P495-million for the repair of bridges and roads in Dumangas, Leon, Guimbal and Maasin, all in Iloilo province.
Navarosa, now in his third term as municipal mayor, said that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional office will soon notify him of the start of construction work of the multi-million project, which could expand the existing P1.280 lineal meter Libacao river wall project structure to 500 meters from Barangay Poblacion to Barangay Janlud.
“The fund is intended to rehabilitate damaged infrastructures in Libacao and to expand the river revetment wall project. This could further protect Barangay Poblacion and its adjacent barangays from floodwaters of Aklan River during heavy rains,” Navarosa added. (Boy Ryan B. Zabal)
