Drunk hunted for stoning Capiz police chief’s car
Senior Supt. Renato Gumban, director of the Capiz Provincial Police Office, and his men hunted a drunk man who stoned his vehicle while they were driving along Brgy. Loboc, La Paz, Iloilo City on their way to Dao, Capiz.
The suspect, Boboy Hermosura, flagged down Gumban’s vehicle, a white Toyota Altis, which he mistook for a taxi.
When the vehicle did not stop, he threw stones at it.
One of Gumban’s companions alighted from the vehicle. When he saw the policeman, Hermosura retreated inside a dark alley and sought refuge in one of the houses.
Gumban and his men went after the suspect but he was able to escape.
One of the residents, Judith Hortillosa, however, complained that Gumban unceremoniously entered their house and caused alarm to their family especially to her children who got frightened of the armed policemen,
But Gumban said there was no violation of domicile because what they did was part of a hot pursuit operation.
“We knew for a fact that he went inside that house but we lost track of him after that,” he added.
Gumban said he will file criminal charges against the suspect “to teach him a lesson.”*
