Illegal drugs yarn vs. Plagata spread by disgruntled cops?
Iloilo City -- Disgruntled policemen who were affected by the 'cleansing process' at the Iloilo City Police Office are allegedly behind the yarn implicating the City Councilor Erwin 'Tong-tong' Plagata in the illegal drugs trade.
Sources said the information linking Plagata to illegal drug syndicates surfaced as early as September this year. Plagata allegedly receives drug money from an alleged big time drug lord who is his wedding godson.
Plagata vehemently denied the allegation.
Plagata, chair of the committtee on police matters of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, said he does not meddle in the works of the policemen particularly concerning illegal drug operations. He added, he is not into the practice of interceding into the arrest of suspected drug pushers.
The information on Plagata's involvement in the illegal drug trade even heightened when he initiated the reading of an anonymous letter linking Brgy. Capt. Jorge Duron, SPO4 Fred Blomes and members of the Task Force Bakhaw as recipients of drug money coming from the drug lords operating in Brgy. Bakhaw recently.
Meanwhile, the City Council is about to study the twin proposal to set up task force in Brgy. Malipayon and Tanza-Esperanza, City Proper.
The proposed establishment of the task forces was sought by Brgy. Capt. Nelly Lirazan of Barangay Malipayon and Brgy. Capt. Carlos Orada of Tanza-Esperanza. Both barangays are placed under the priority list of the Iloilo City Police Office because of the gravity of the illegal drugs problem affecting the said barangays.
Plagata, on his part said he could not pinpoint where the information linking him to illegal drugs came. He said his way of life will speak if indeed he is receiving drug money. He, however suspects that the information only spread after he initiated a move to read the anonymous letter to the ouncil.
Plagata said it is just part of his life as a public servant.
