Soldier kills ex-Airforce bro
A former officer of the Philippine Air Force was sprayed with bullets of an armalite rifle in a close range shooting perpetuated by the victim's own brother.
Shocked neighbors and family members in New Lucena, Iloilo rushed to the scene where 32 year-old Joemarie Sumido fell bloodied and seconds thereafter, dead on the spot. Initial investigation conducted by operatives of the New Lucena police identified the sole suspect as 55 year-old Francis Sumido of Sitio Ubos, Barangay Cabilauan of said town.
It was not immediately clear what triggered the killing yet further evidence as learned by The News Today disclosed of a planned attack made by the suspect against his own brother. Authorities were also told of an unresolved longtime family squabble yet to date, no official motive was established by the probers.
The younger Sumido sustained multiple gunshot wounds that even had his left arm totally severed. All other gunshot wounds that proved fatal were focused on the victim's chest.
Sources told The News Today that the suspect has since surrendered to his commanding officer and yielded at the headquarters of the Military Intelligence Group in Camp Delgado.
Recovered on the crime scene were 26 slugs of the M16 armalite rifle.
