Talks between IDFI, Sta. Teresita Church turn futile
IDFI will transfer 4th judging area to Mabini-J. De Leon
After the refusal of the parish priest of the Sta. Teresita Del Niņo Jesus to meet with members of the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI), the foundation decided to transfer the fourth judging area to Mabini-J. De Leon Streets instead of Quezon-J. De Leon Streets, City Proper.
Dr. Jaime Manila, chair of the committee on tribes, said the judging committee have already agreed to look for another site for the fourth judging area. They agreed to move the judging area to Mabini-J. De Leon.
In last Tuesday's Dinagyang briefing, Manila said the tribes will enter Mabini side near the Robinsons and will exit in J. De Leon in going to Iznart-Gaisano. This was decided by the committee after their efforts to talk to Fr. Antonio Anino, parish priest of Sta. Teresita Del Niņo Jesus proved futile.
Earlier, the Parish Apostolic Council, Parish Finance Council and Parish Pastoral Council of Sta. Teresita Del Niņo Jesus approved a resolution objecting the plan of the IDFI to situate the fourth judging area in Quezon-De Leon, which is adjacent to the church and Robinsons Place.
The resolution was approved last January 5, 2006. The said resolution was signed by Fr. Anino; Rev. Fr. Jose Rex Viloca; parochial vicar, Lucena Amalay; Parish Apostic Council chair, Trinidad Golez; chair of Parish Finance Council and Arsenio Del Rosario, chair of the Parish Pastoral Council.
In the church resolution, the signatories stressed there are masses at 5:00 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m. and 11 a.m. while 4:30 in the afternoon, 6:00 and 7:00 in the evening.
They argued that making the corner of Quezon and J. De Leon Streets as staging area will disturb the solemnity of the masses because of the noise the festivities will create. The making of corner Quezon-J. De Leon streets as a staging area will also prevent the faithful from attending the mass as the area will be closed to traffic.
