WVCST studes sweep Museo art tilt
Over 250 young artist from the various schools in
Iloilo took part in Museo Iloilo's On the Spot
painting contest .
Three students from the West Visayas College of Science and Technology served notice of their potential to the Iloilo art world after sweeping the top three spots in the recent Museo Iloilo On-the-Spot painting contest.
Alex Ordoyo, Crispo Mantiquilla, and Jonas Mark Siva placed first, second, and third respectively in the college level category of the competition held annually by the Museo Iloilo in conjunction with the Dinagyang Festival.
Over 250 students from the different elementary, high school, and colleges of Iloilo took part in the contest which was designed to encourage art awareness and appreciation as well as to discover budding artists among Iloilo's youth, said Mrs. Gina Sarabia-Espinosa, president of the Iloilo Cultural and Research Foundation, Inc. (ICRFI), steward foundation of the Museo Iloilo.
In the High School category, first place went to Sernette Jade Emata of the Iloilo National High School. Michael Jason Lencioco and Michael de la Rosa, both of the Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, took second and third, respectively.
In the Elementary level, Jannie Rose Que of Sun Yat Sen High School submitted the best painting while Fiel John de la Cruz of Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus and Annie Rose Abogadil of J.L. Tiongco Memorial School received second and third honors.
The art tilt is a yearly voyage of discovery that seeks to provide a venue for artistic expression for young students. The theme of the painting contest revolves around the Dinagyang.
