Government, church and media to tackle issues on good governance
Four lead speakers will talk about good governance in the public sector on Friday, April 7, from 9 am to 5 pm at the Iloilo Grand Hotel in Iznart Street.
Senior Deputy Majority Leader Rep. Arthur Defensor of the 3rd district of Iloilo will discuss good governance in the public sector. Minority Floor Leader Rep. Chiz Escudero of the 1st district of Sorsogon will talk about the duties and responsibilities of political parties in promoting good governance. Ms. Luchi Cruz-Valdes, Vice President for News and Public Affairs of ABS-CBN will touch on the role of media in promoting good governance and Archbishop Angel N. Lagdameo will focus on participation of the religious sector in affecting good governance.
This activity called the UP Alumni Institute invites participants coming from the public and private sectors. The institute aims to bring UP and the UP Alumni Association closer to the alumni and the people in the region and serve as a forum for UP alumni in key government and non-government positions to discuss critical issues and problems of the University and the society at large.
Representatives from the UP Alumni Association (Diliman) headed by Regent Jaime delos Santos will also have a chance to meet with the officers and members of the different alumni associations in Iloilo, Aklan, Capiz and Antique to discuss status, programs and problems concerning their respective alumni associations.
