Cops eye ex-con in La Paz killing
City cops are on the look-out for the male suspect, reportedly an ex-convict, on Wednesday's fatal stabbing incident that terrified residents in La Paz District.
The victim, Glenn Aposaga succumbed Friday to four stab wounds despite emergency treatment and overnight surgery at the Iloilo Mission Hospital. Police investigation identified an alias "Aying Adungos" as the attacker though validation continues for possible accomplices. The suspect's whereabouts has yet to be established as he remains at-large as of press time. An alarm has been sent to various city police offices alongside similar efforts reached out to volunteer 'police' groups in the barangays.
Such, as barangay officials in San Isidro joined authorities in sending out a clear warning - alias "Aying" could be armed and dangerous.
Initial police probe failed to come out with clear motive on the killing however neighbors of the Aposaga family told operatives of the Lapaz Police Office that the incident just stemmed from a drinking spree. It was not clear who or what triggered the attack yet bystanders recalled hearing an argument minutes prior into the melee that suddenly occurred.
Meantime, yet another family in said district is in mourning and grief following the discovery of the lifeless body of a family member. An apparent case of suicide, the 28 year-old victim was the father of two youngsters. His widow, a woman in her early 20s was kept off from the media with the victim's family refusing to release specifics of the case even to police.
The victim who was found hanging inside his room was rushed to the Iloilo St. Paul's Hospital where efforts to revive him failed. No foul play is entertained nor suspected.
