TRO vs Cha-Cha in Roxas City granted
Capiz' Movement Against Arroyo's Cha-Cha or C MARCH, scored a victory over exponents of people's initiative when on April 25, 2006, Judge Edward B Contreras, of Branch 17, 6th Judicial Region based in Roxas City, Capiz ordered COMELEC Regional Elections Officer VI Atty. Ausan, Capiz Provincial Elections Officer Nelly Abao-Lee, Roxas City Elections Officer Rutche Calixterio and the Municipal Elections Officers of Cuartero, Dao, Dumalag, Ivisan, Jamindan, Maayon, Pontevedra, Pres. Roxas, Sigma, and Tapaz to cease and desist immediately from taking cognizance of verification of signatures of the supposed registered voters by any people's organization.
These past days, the people won over the tyrannical orders of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo when the Supreme Court ruled against her Executive Order 464 and CPR as unconstitutional.
In Iloilo City, however, the petition for Prohibition with Prayer for Preliminary Injunction and Issuance of Temporary Restraining Order against Commission on Elections Regional Elections Officer VI Atty. Dennis Ausan, City and Provincial Elections Officer Atty. Elizabeth Doronila and City Mayor Jerry Treñas by Ilonggos' Movement Against Arroyo's Cha-Cha or I MARCH may be temporarily derailed but the fight is not over yet.
I MARCH lawyers led by Attys. Daniel Cartagena, Joshua Alim, Romeo Gerochi, Joseph Anthony Lutero, Leo Sombiro are not giving up the fight. They are submitting to the honorable court a Motion for Reconsideration as the group believes that they have the legal basis, which may have been overlooked by the Court, to stop "People's Initiative" that the Department of Interior and Local Government and Malacañang initiated.
BAYAN Panay congratulates the vigilance of Capiznons and Ilonggos in this fight against Arroyo's grand ambition to cling to power despite the massive corruption, electoral fraud, and human rights violations attributed to her, her family and her administration.
BAYAN Panay vows to exhaust all legal means to frustrate Arroyo and her minions in their ambitions to further oppress the Filipino people.
