Four Ilonggo tribes perform in Aliwan Fiesta 2006
Manila -- Ilonggos who are here in Metro Manila are rearing to witness the performance on Saturday of four tribes from Iloilo that joined in the Aliwan Fiesta 2006, the Philippines' grandest fiesta participated by the country's 28 major festivals.
The four tribes are the Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School of Iloilo, Tribu Manog-gama of Maasin, Tribu Kahilwayan of Sta. Barbara and Pintados de Pasi of Passi City. They will perform along with 24 other tribes coming from the different parts of the country in Quirino Grandstand and Star City.
Tribu Ilonganon and Manog-gama were respectively declared champions in the Ati and Kasadyahan competitions of the 2006 Dinagyang festival. Tribu Kahilwayan and Pintados de Pasi were past winners of the Dinagyang festival.
A P1 million cash prize awaits the Aliwan grand winner. The second placer will also receive P500,000 and P250,000 for the third placer. Three regional winners will also get P200,000 each while the top 10 finalists will be given P50,000 each. There will also be float and Reyna ng Aliwan competition. Iloilo tribes brought all the victory in last year's national competition. All of them are hoping to be winners in this year's competition.
Aside from the four tribes in Iloilo, the Angel Festival of San Rafael, Bulacan; Babaylan Festival of Bago City, Negros Occidental; Boling-boling Festival of Catanuan, Quezon, Damili Festval of San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte; Halad Festival of Pigcawayan, North Cotabato; Himag-ulaw Festival of Placer, Masbate; Kalilangan, Kalilangan Festival of General Santos City; Kambulang Festival of Parang, Maguindanao; Kasilonawan Obando Fertility Ritual of Obando, Bulacan; Krus sa Wawa Festival of Bocaue, Bulacan; Marikina Festival of Marikina City; Meguyaya Festival of Upi, Maguindanao; Pakalog Festival of Santolan, Pais City; Panagbenga Festival of Baguio City; Pamulinawen Festival of Laoag; Pili Festival of Sorsogon City; Pasalamat Festival of Pagadian City; Pinilisa Festival of Jones, Isabela; Sabutan Festival of Palanan, Isabela; Sambali Cagayana Festival of Baggao, Cagayan; Sinulog Festival of Cebu City; Sumakah Festival of Antipolo City and Zamboanga Hermosa Festival of Zamboanga City.
