TSKI launches scholarship program
Taytay Sa Kauswagan, Inc. (TSKI) a multi-awarded non-government organization (NGO) engaged in microfinance has started preparatory work for implementation this school opening in June 2006 of a scholarship program to initially benefit ten incoming college students.
Atty. Pablo Nava III, vice chairman of TSKI's ad hoc committee on educational assistance program said that ten students have recently passed the written examination, namely: Rosenie Baylon, Stephen Silverio, Kristine May Nagnal, Maria Lyn Nobleza, Rossan Joy Nasmay, Shiela Marcon, Jonadine Villeza, Angelo Bocala, Emily Celoso, and Chevie Relatibo. They come from various high schools in Capiz, Iloilo and Guimaras.
TSKI will provide for the school expenses in tuition fees, miscellaneous fees, and monthly allowance to qualified scholars who may enroll with non-exclusive schools within their provincial places of residence.
Scholars may enroll in any bachelor degree course of not more than 5 years, preferably in commerce, accountancy, marketing, business management, business administration, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, education, computer engineering and computer science.
The scholarship program is a study now, pay later scheme that only covers the deserving children of TSKI clients. TSKI will also help facilitate employment of the scholar-graduates.
The ad hoc committee of TSKI's educational assistance program is composed of former Iloilo Vice Governor Demy P. Sonza as chairman, Atty. Pablo Nava III as vice chairman, Mr. Reynaldo Ligasan, Mr. Ramon Buenaflor, Mr. Angel L. De Leon Jr., and Mr. Ricardo Gurrea as members.
Atty. Nava said that eventually, a scholarship foundation would be established by TSKI to permanently supervise the continuing scholarship program. Ten additional TSKI scholars are envisioned to be added each year in the future, Nava said.
