USA to host Ukraine theater workshop
The University of San Agustin through the USA Center for Culture and the Arts and the USA Little Theater in cooperation with the City Government of Iloilo and the Iloilo City Cultural Heritage Conservation Council will host a theater workshop to be conducted by the Karpenko Kary Kyiv National University for Theater, Cinema and Television of Kiev, Ukraine on May 18 to 19, 2006 at the USA Conference Room.
The workshop is part of the Theater for All: Workshop of Drama Schools, a cultural-educational cooperative workshop and performance in conjunction with the 31st UNESCO-International Theater Institute (ITI) World Congress on the theme "Ancestral Roots to New Artistic Routes of Expression: Mobilizing Cultural Diversity to Achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals." The Congress will be held in Manila from May 20-29, 2006 in conjunction with the UN Celebration of Cultural Diversity and Development Week and our own Heritage Month.
Theater for All opens on May 17, 2006, 6:30 PM at the Robinson's Place Iloilo Fountain Area simultaneously with 10 other cities nationwide. The Iloilo City program includes presentations from the USA Performing Arts - USA Little Theater, USA Troubadours, USA Band and Kawilihan-USA. Other activities include a cultural tour with theater performances at the Museo Iloilo with the USA Little Theater, Iloilo National High School with Teatro Entablado of the INHS Special Program and the Western Institute of Technology with Teatro Primiero and the Miagao Church, a UNESCO Heritage Site.
Local partners include the Department of Tourism, the City and Provincial Tourism Offices, Teatrokon (The Western Visayas Theater Network), Iloilo National High School, Western Institute of Technology, Museo-Iloilo, Iloilo City Convention Bureau, Municipality of Miagao, Perk Central Internet Cafe and Sarabia manor Hotel and Convention Center, official residence of the Ukraine delegation.
