DOST trains Negrenses on dyeing, bleaching of indigenous fibers
Negros Occidental -- The Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers - Negros Occidental Chapter and the Negros Occidental and Livelihood Development Center will conduct a training on bleaching and dyeing of indigeneous fibers on June 28-30 at the Negros Occidental Training and Livelihood Development Center.
The three-day training will allot a day on theoretical discussion and a two-day hands-on training on actual dyeing. The course is designed to provide the participants with the knowledge and techniques in dyeing buntal, abaca, maguey, pandan, nitto and other indigenous fibers.
The training aims to equip the participants at the end of the course the know-how pre-treatment processes to raw materials and dye indigenous fibers to different shades.
The training fee of P1,500 covers for the materials, lunch, and snacks for three days. Participants should bring any of the mentioned indigenous fibers.
