Warden, 3 guards face Capitol probers on inmate's 'firing squad'
Capitol probers are working to resolve in 60 days, not two weeks, its independent probe on the controversial killing of an inmate at the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC).
With retired Police Senior Supt. Juan Mabugat, IRC warden called thus far along with three jail guards, Capitol lawyer Ethel Demaisip told The News Today (TNT) that three more are expected to show up.
In a chance interview, Demaisip also confirmed that an ocular inspection was made by the probe team while saying that everything is being done to hasten the investigation and get all facts together.
The team is expected to come up with an official sentiment on the violent death of inmate Dante Joaquin Jr., killed by jail guards while attempting to escape.
The victim was sprayed upon by bullets and killed on the spot seconds after he was seen exiting the main IRC building. He was known to be suffering from a mental disorder.
The Capitol probe comes after the earlier investigation conducted by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and the Pototan Police Office.
Joaquin's death has sparked an outrage from family members and select members of the Iloilo Provincial Board.
Board Member Angelo Briones was first to react calling the incident an 'overkill'.
