ABS-CBN TV-10 relaunches TV Patrol Iloilo
ABS-CBN Iloilo's primetime newscast is sporting a new look and a new tagline. TV Patrol Iloilo was relaunched Monday, September 18, with a challenging battlecry "Una sa Balita!"
The revitalized TV Patrol Iloilo is anchored by lawyer Jobert Peñaflorida with Jennifer Garcia as co-anchor. Aired Monday to Friday from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. the new TV Patrol Iloilo aims to be ahead in both news and public service.
Among the new features of TV Patrol Iloilo is the delivery of live reports from strategic locations outside the studio in Luna Street, La Paz.
Also, new and exciting segments will be added to the news program like the MOR Chika which will feature juicy tidbits from the local entertainment scene to be handled by MOR 91.1 disc jockey Kim; the Lakwatsa ni R. Dawn which will feature price watch from the city's markets; School Patrol where events in the various campuses will be featured; and many more.
ABS-CBN Iloilo Station Manager Charie Ginete-Ilon said the reformatting of TV Patrol Iloilo is in line with the station's quest to capture a wider market and to maintain its mark as the most awarded and most respected local news program.
TV Patrol Iloilo was cited as finalist for Best TV News Program in the 2003 Catholic Mass Media Awards and romped off with the CMMA trophy as Best News Program in 2004. TV Patrol Iloilo and its anchor Atty. Jobert Peñaflorida were recognized as Finalist for the Best TV News Program and Best TV News Anchor in the 2005 KBP Golden Dove Awards, where ABS-CBN Iloilo emerged triumphant as the Best Provincial TV Station in the Philippines.
TV Patrol Iloilo is also credited for the introduction of original community outreach program on television – the Kapamilya sa Barangay where the entire news team reaches out to the most marginalized barangays in the city to find solutions to their many concerns and to provide fun, joy and entertainment, especially to the kids.
Another project of TV Patrol Iloilo that has gained unprecedented success is its annual ABS-CBN Inter-School Newscasting Competition. Now on its 4th year, the contest has become hotly-contested with the categories expanding from elementary to high school to college levels, where over 200 contestants joined this year in the English, Filipino and Hiligaynon categories.
TV Patrol Iloilo's winning team is headed by its Supervising Producer Ms. Charie Ginete-Ilon, OIC News Chief and Executive Producer Ms. Gemma Villanueva, Director Ms. Claribelle Magno, anchors Atty. Peñaflorida and Jennifer Garcia, and Patrol sang Ilonggo reporters Nony Basco, Klaire Belotindos, Mark Desello, Lou Sabellano, Donna Baldeviso, and Rhoda Garzon.
