Region's top cop alerts PNP stations
An alert is now out on all police stations in Western Visayas following an "attack scare" reportedly out to be perpetuated by communist terrorists New People's Army (NPA). The offensives are said to mark the NPA's sentiments in this year's Martial Law anniversary.
Whether all hype or not, Police Regional Office 6 Director Gerry Barias said an order for heightened vigilance is out on all PNP stations if only to avert any incident and harassments from the NPAs.
This, as the region's top cop moved to downplay the communist terrorists' propaganda in what he said is the group's continued attempt to sow fear in the community and effect a bigger, stronger force.
The government agents, Barias told Bombo Radyo, are all out and ready to defend the community even as he moved to consider retraining of the current police force and further the local PNP's intelligence gathering.
Similar sentiments from Army top brass here. Captain Renante Besa of the 3rd Infantry Division when reached by Bombo Radyo said as well that there is nothing new to the NPA's threat to attack. And it is expected by the Army hierarchy with the forthcoming Martial Law anniversary part of the NPA's "calendar of events."
To note, text messages have been passed on for days that laid down specifics on the NPA offensives that targets Army detachments and police stations.
