City Mayor Jerry Treñas is contemplating of giving financial assistance to 37 families whose houses were razed by fire Monday noon at Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao district. Fire investigators estimated the damage to properties to reach P1.2 million.
City Mayor Jerry Treñas has ordered the City Disaster Coordinating Council (CDCC) to close the bridge in Barangay Ticud, La Paz district in order to avoid accidents like what happened in the town of Igbaras, Iloilo where more than 20 people died and scores missing.
Mayor Jerry Treñas still has kind words to Senator Franklin Drilon even if the latter questioned how he spent the P58.065 Countrywide Development Fund (CDF) which the Ilonggo senator gave to the city.
Iloilo, as an agricultural province, has another feather to its cap. A lady farmer is adjudged as the national winner in the search for outstanding quality corn farmer and she is also the first lady of one of the towns of Iloilo. She bested other farmers who are all males and are from the top corn producing provinces. She produces the best corn in the country in terms of quality.
