Capiz cops get 'PIE' every week
Roxas City -- A weekly reminder on the proper and ethical conduct in the performance of duties and obligations among its ranks is being conducted by the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) to maintain professionalism in the different aspects of police operations.
The reminder is conveyed through the Police Information and Education (PIE) activity as part of the CPPO’s flag raising program every Monday.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Regional Director Chief Supt. Geary Barias conducted a short visit to the CPPO last August to check the alertness of policemen and reiterate their mandate of serving and protecting lives and properties.
He emphasized his guidelines and policies particularly on uniform, haircut, and dealings, among others, during his stopover here.
The effort of the regional and provincial police offices to clean its organization from erring policemen has been further intensified with the recent order of the Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters to review operatives’ activities.
"This will show our people that we are constantly doing our honesty check and that we in the PNP are very serious in cleaning up our ranks of abusive and undesirable members," said PNP Chief Oscar Calderon.
The directive was issued following the arrest of 10 policemen for alleged extortion, kidnap-for-ransom, and illegal possession of drugs.
"This serves as a clear message that the PNP leadership does not tolerate scalawags to thrive within its rank and that it will not think twice in flushing out notoriously undesirable policemen," added Calderon.
