The Binirayan Foundation, Inc. (BFI) announces the open house of the EBJ Gallery on the 64th birthday anniversary celebration of slain Antique governor Evelio B. Javier on October 31. The EBJ Memorabilia occupies one of the galleries of the Museo Antiqueño at the Old Capitol building in San Jose, Antique.
The gallery is a collection of photographs, letters, documents, and realia significant to the life and heroism of Evelio B. Javier, who was assassinated at the Antique provincial plaza on February 11, 1986. The collection started as an exhibit of photos at the Antique Provincial Capitol Lobby, which was transferred to the gallery during the 20th death anniversary in February.
Now under the auspices of BFI, the improved gallery has been conceptualized to show different facets of Evelio's life as youth and student, as governor, and as political leader supporting Corazon Aquino in the 1986 snap elections.
The centerpiece of the gallery is a 30-inch replica of the hero's monument designed by National Artist Napoleon Abueva, a collection of letters by the hero to his wife Precious and son Giddy, and display of Evelio's campaign shirts and paraphernalia. The gallery is designed by artist Alan B. Cabalfin with BFI executive director Alex C. Delos Santos as curator.
The gallery will be open the public from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a reception for special guests and Governor Salvacion Zaldivar Perez at 4:30 PM at the Old Capitol courtyard.
Sponsors for the EBJ Gallery are Boysen Premium Quality Paints, Susana Marketing, and San Jose Business Park Businessmen's Association. BFI is also preparing the Main Gallery of the Museo Antiqueño to open in February 2007.
