Estancia mayor decries 'flying voters'
Estancia Mayor Rene Cordero has now come out to decry what he said were disturbing influx and registration of 'flying voters' in his town. Though no exact number has been disclosed, the mayor in an interview over Bombo Radyo expressed alarm over the matter which he said left Commission on Election (Comelec) officials here helpless.
The 'flying voters', Mayor Cordero added, insisted on their registration despite not having answers on basic questions asked by registration officials. For instance, he disclosed, several of the new registrants failed to name the barangay captain where they supposedly reside. And most were known to be residents of nearby Iloilo towns, Cordero continued.
As such, Estancia is expected to be recommended as one of the province's 'election hot spots' particularly with reported build-up of arms and armed men in the area.
The mayoralty post is further expected to draw much of the attention with Mayor Cordero set to battle it off with a high-ranking police official.
