Multinational company to hold jobs fair
A multinational company will hold a jobs fair on January 20 to 21, 2007 at SM City Iloilo as a water test for the services market in the city.
Teletech's Vice President/General Manager Maulik Parekh and his group will be in the city for the jobs fair.
TeleTech is a multinational company which delivers a range of services, including business process management, facilities management and seamless global services.
Parekh and his companions conducted a courtesy call with Mayor Jerry Treñas Thursday morning. During the courtesy call, Parekh informed the chief executive about the jobs fair. The outcome of the jobs fair will be used by Teletech as guide in their future plan to put up a call center in Iloilo City.
Parekh told the mayor that if the jobs fair in Iloilo City becomes successful, Teletech will consider having another center in Iloilo for its Visayas branches. Teletech already has a center in Bacolod City. Hired applicants from Iloilo City will be brought to Bacolod.
In the Philippines, Teletech's operation serves multinational organizations looking for cost-effective customer management solutions and services - including a global leader in broadband internet-based communications with one of the largest, most technologically advanced networks in the world.
Treñas is confident about the result of the jobs fair. He cited the success of Ventus, a PLDT operated call center, situated in Molo district.
The mayor learned that out of the 100 applicants, 50 percent were either hired or subjected for a training. The result of the hiring in Ventus is much higher compared in the national average which is only 3 percent, he said.
