Capiz posts 98% turnout for NCAE exam
Roxas City--Nearly 10,000 graduating high school students both from the private and public schools, including a state university here successfully took the mandatory National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE).
According to Mary Capangyarihan, Filipino Division Supervisor and Testing Coordinator of Department of Education (DepEd) Capiz Division, some 10,028 high school students in the province were registered to take the NCAE.
However, only 9,838 students or 98.11 percent were able to take the said examination last January 17 here, Capangyarihan said.
Of the total registered examinees, 686 came from the private school, however, only 98.69 percent took the said career examination.
Capangyarihan disclosed that the National Testing Research Center (NTRC) is set to conduct a special examination for those students who were not able to take the said test.
She said that the result of the recently conducted career examination is expected to be released before the graduation period.
She added that said assessment test aims to guide high school graduating students in choosing a career that is suited to the student's ability in enrolling for college education.
This is the first time that an NCAE has been conducted, replacing the National Secondary Achievement Test (NSAT), Capangyarihan said.
She said that for graduating senior students of school year 2007-2008, NTRC plans to conduct the assessment test sometime in August this year.
