ODA-action in Guimaras; Raising healthier children under the CPC programs
Children and their families in the Province of Guimaras are literally off to a brighter and healthier future.
This is the promise and goal of a major project here dubbed "Fifth Country Programme for Children" (CPC 5) and "Sixth Country Programme for Children" (CPC 6).
Supported by the UNICEF, the CPC 5 has over P35 million in Official Development Assistance (ODA) poured in here with a provincial counterpart of over P7.9 million from the Guimaras Provincial Government. This, alongside CPC 6's ODA-funding of US $679,462 also from the UNICEF, both programs out to trim down disparities in major health, nutrition, education and protection indicators throughout the island-province.
Further still is the program's vision of having formed strengthened and capable communities in Guimaras that will ensure children's survival protection and development through child-friendly governance here.
CPC 5 was implemented back in 1999 up to 2004. CPC 6 continued the efforts as implemented last year where expected to be realized is the program's goal of a major reduction on the current statistics and scenario of up to 50%.
Component programs are on communication, local policy and institutional development, health and nutrition, education, children in need of special protection and the literacy drive on HIV/AIDS.
The Provincial Government in a fund counterpart allocated P4.2 million alongside the respective municipal and barangay counterparts in the ongoing CPC 6.
Governor JC Rahman Nava leads the CPC 6 provincial implementation and monitoring.
