Admin ticket almost complete; opposition still in quandary
While the administration party has almost finalized their candidates for the city this coming May 14 elections, the opposition group has yet to make public their final ticket.
What is definite with the opposition as of the present is that, their mayoralty bet is Mayor Mansueto Malabor.
Discussions are still ongoing as to who would be the group's congressional bet while they have not yet finalized their candidates for city councilor.
The administration party, on the other hand, will field eight incumbent councilors in their ticket. The remaining four slots would be a battle among restaurant owner Edward Yee, Barangay Captain Bobby Divinagracia of Barangay San Agustin, City Proper, former City Councilors Antonio Pesina and Eduardo Laczi; Barangay Capt. Lyndon Acap and Atty. Eldrid Antiquerra.
Deliberations are still ongoing as to who among the six contenders would be chose in the remaining four slots.
The eight incumbents are Councilors Eduardo Peñaredondo, Erwin Plagata, Jose Espinosa III, Ely Estante, Armand Parcon, Julienne Baronda, Merci Garcia and Jeffrey Ganzon.
Mayor Jerry Treñas will be the group's mayoralty candidate along with reelectionist Representative Raul Gonzalez Jr.
Treñas said they have chosen Councilor Jed Mabilog as their candidate for vice mayor.
Meanwhile, nobody has yet to file their certificate of candidacy for local elective positions. It was learned that the filing of candidacy for local elective positions will end on March 29.
