Barkers on the loose
Iloilo City councilor Jed Mabilog has added another "feather in his cap" for assuming a new title "barker on the loose" courtesy of his master the self-proclaimed King famous for notoriety.
According to Jed, the city suffered a setback as a result of the cancellation of the Genuine Opposition (GO) grand rally held at the provincial capitol grounds due to security threat.
Interviewed by the local and national press Provincial Administrator Manuel "Boy" Mejorada was quick in pointing his finger to Justice Raul Gonzalez Sr. as having a hand in the spread of text messages threatening that something untoward incident may happen at the night of the GO rally, or even days earlier.
Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr. right after consulting Sen. Franklin Drilon, GO campaign manager JV Ejercito and other key personnel of the opposition decided to cancel the rally for the safety of the opposition senatorial candidates.
Surprisingly, Jed reacted emotionally violent.
With frothing mouth, he demanded a public apology from Gov. Tupas and Boy Mejo with matching threat to consider the duo "persona non grata" should they refuse to give in to his demand.
Honestly, I understand why Jed is acting in such a manner. He should do so to satisfy his master, or else he would be deprived the chance as the next city vice mayor since Tatay Guilling De la Llana is soon gracefully retiring after a fruitful years of public service.
What setback is Jed talking about?
What proof Jed can offer to manifest that the city of Iloilo all of a sudden turned into a haven for terrorists out of the harmless official statement Boy Mejo released to the press?
When did the local or foreign tourists start to evade the city and province of Iloilo as a result of the GO rally that never was?
I am extremely puzzled by Jed’s over-reacting of the incident--very abnormal indeed.
Strangely, he kept mum on the controversial and infamous capitol siege last January 17.
It was a day of infamy known not only here but to the whole world. And what have you done Jed? Did you ever raise a howl of protest or at least squirm a little?
No, you did not! Instead you preferred to play blind, deaf and mute for reasons only you can explain before your forefather’s grave.
Did I hear you condemning those responsible for the capitol assault? Did I hear you insisting for an investigation? Did I hear you making a call from the Regional Mobile Group (RMG) to come forward and make amends?
Jed your call for Gov. Tupas and Boy Mejo is definitely an ultimate act of hypocrisy. Who are you? It seems you wanted to appear more popish than the pope. Don’t you feel like puking of your act?
If this is your way of paying back your benefactor, you could have done it in a more subtle way, not at the expense of the good governor and Boy Mejo.
Why you're such a young man in a hurry? There is always a time for everything Jed. If you are destined to be what you wanted to be, then let the course of life do the walking without stepping on other’s toes.
Worst, even Mayor Jerry Treñas and Department of Tourism Regional Director Edwin Trompeta (an overstaying director according to Atty. Pet Melliza) joined the fray as if it would help them increase their stock.
Both condemned the provincial capitol administration for issuing security threats as unpatriotic and could diminish the image of tourism in the city and province of Iloilo .
Look who's talking? Did I hear anyone from you made an official condemnation of the terroristic act done at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol?
I saw Dir. Edwin Trompeta himself right in front of the capitol gate facing Bonifacio Drive at the height of the capitol siege on January 17, 2007 while watching Mayor Raul "Boboy" Tupas on his way to the van of regional provincial director Senior Superintendent Wilfredo Dulay begging for mercy not to assault the capitol.
At that instance Edwin appeared like a vulture waiting for its prey. Not a word of assurance or comfort did he ever extend to the son of the beleaguered governor at the most crucial moment he needed it most.
I hope Edwin could really distinguish terrorism from patriotism, so is Jerry Treñas.
I hate to believe the three of you are barkers on the loose, but obviously you failed to hide the color of your skin.
