'King's choice
There are compulsive reasons why Acting Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. a.k.a. the self-proclaimed "king" should make amends before he allows the sun to finally set on him.
We must recall that Gov. Niel D. Tupas attributed to him the recent Capitol siege which brought havoc to the provincial government.
No matter how much the "king" denies to death his innocence, his body language and the words spouting from his mouth speaks otherwise.
Unknown to Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo the "king" is an extra baggage bringing shame to her administration resulting to her waning popularity.
When she picked him as acting DOJ Chief, GMA has actually overpaid her political debt as she had reappointed the "king" several times despite constant rejection by the Commission on Appointments.
It has been proven several times in the past that the "king" is not fit for the job because of his habitual unsound judgment especially on political issues involving national concern.
Worst, it has been perceived that he carries his own personal vendetta against those he had personally and politically clashed with while still a congressman. If he doesn't like your face beware, it is a mortal sin. If someone appears intellectually superior than he is, expect he will perpetually put you in the pedestal of shame.
Want proof? Look what happened to Gov. Niel D. Tupas, to a publisher of one daily newspaper, to Provincial Administrator Manuel "Boy" Mejorada to mention a few?
The "king" does not choose his enemies with prudence. Most likely he would even dare to have a duel with a lowly laborer. I think it is inherent in his character.
I felt the "king" has been engaged in political voodooism with a touch of dirty money serving as bait -- for him everything has a price. No money, no honey.
Ever wonder why barangay captains from various villages in the city find themselves regularly queuing at his Quintin Salas residence. It is a common sight to watch each enjoy in exchange for a few pieces of silver coming from him.
These barangay officials allow themselves to be treated like hogs year-round for three summers good to last for another election butchering. These lost souls seem to enjoy licking the ass of their benefactor mistakenly believing it is an honorable act fitting for a "king."
Their recent attempt to pass a barangay resolution considering Gov. Tupas and Provincial Administrator Mejorada persona non-grata through City Councilor Jed Mabilog manifest their blind loyalty to their "king."
When Mayor Geronimo Buenaventura err, Jerry Treñas publicly confessed he was not aware of such a move, it was tantamount to admitting that he is an inutile leader of the city.
Summing it up the "king" will do everything to destroy Gov. Tupas.
Even in his hospital bed where accordingly he has been confined for more than a week due to deteriorating health condition he continuously calls the shot in deciding the political landscape in Iloilo City now considered a Gonzalez Country by virtue of his cunning closeness to GMA.
When one is on the verge of death, it is a normal behavior for a man to seek solitary comfort with a priest and make amends for his sins. He may not be able to physically ask forgiveness from whom he had directly wronged but the act of repentance could somehow unburden one's extra load on his way beyond the Twilight Zone.
Surprisingly, like a cult the "king" insists his horde of followers to pay him a visit at the actual site where he is currently confined to talk about political strategies instead of engaging in spirituality to save one's soul, plucking him out in the process from the Road to Perdition.
If I may share my unsolicited advice, I suggest his supporters must initiate in cleansing the brain of the "king" through No-Tox, a detoxification method popularly practiced in the United States .
Please don't take this as a hoax or a form of mockery. I really wish the "king" transforms into an immaculate individual void of hatred and vindictiveness in his heart.
May he start building bridges to reach out with friends and enemies alike not walls.
There are a hundred and thousand reasons the "king" must regain his honor and integrity before he bids farewell and bequeath the throne to someone with unblemished character who symbolizes love and unity among the Ilonggos.
But definitely, not someone whose names sound like Jerry Treñas who has the habit to always study everything before making a decision even to the minutest thing, neither a certain Jed Mabilog who has the tendency to behave like a voracious piranha to satisfy his insatiable desire for power.
Mirror, mirror on the wall, pick the "king's" choice as the greediest of them all.
