City admin slate to file COC tomorrow
Some 10,000 supporters of the local administration candidates under the Lakas-CMD party are expected to occupy portions of the city's streets as their candidates will file tomorrow (Saturday) their certificates of candidacy (COC) in the city Commission on Election (Comelec) at the Iloilo Terminal Market.
The candidates lead by Mayor Jerry Treñas will file their certificates of candidacy after attending a 9 a.m. mass at the Sta. Maria Church. The candidates will wear green shirts to add more drama during the filing of certificates of candidacy.
The group chose March 24 as the date for the filing of candidacy based on the feng sui readings. The green shirts which they will wear on Saturday is also patterned from the feng sui.
Re-electionist Cong. Raul Gonzalez Jr. is also expected to join in the filing of the certificates of candidacy. He will have former Mayor Mansueto Malabor as his opponent for the congressional position.
The candidates along with city's barangay leaders, supporters and other organizations will walk from the church until the City Comelec office. Of the city's 180 barangay captains, 174 are supportive of the Treñas group.
Other than Treñas, Councilor Jed Mabilog who is running for a vice mayoral seat and incumbent Councilors Juliene Baronda, Armand Parcon, Ely Estante, Eduardo Peñaredondo, Jose Espinosa III, Erwin Plagata and Jeffrey Ganzon will also join the administration party as they file their certificates of candidacy.
Businessman Edward Yee and San Agustin Barangay Capt. Bobby Divinagracia are also among the news faces to join the administration party. Their supporters from different barangays will join them to show their support during the filing of their certificates of candidacy.
Comebacking Councilor Antonio Pesina, lawyer Eldrid Antiquera and Lyndon Acap also added to the list of the councilorables under the administration party. Pesina lost in the recent election while Antiquera had been trying his luck at the city council for several elections.
