Court effects arrest of woman inside courtroom
A regular Court appearance of a woman convicted with Estafa brought the easy arrest of authorities minutes after the Presiding Judge ruled against her application for probation.
Now in the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Ungka Jaro, Iloilo City, Christine Naces of Arevalo District will serve the earlier conviction handed down by the Court for her one year imprisonment.
This, as multiple complaints for similar Estafa charges await Resolution at the Iloilo City Prosecutors Office reported to be over P1 million in questioned financial dealings.
Naces was convicted in the four counts of Estafa case filed by Shirley Villegas alongside four counts of violation of BP 22 or the bouncing-check law. Over P206,000 was involved in the Villegas case.
Yesterday's hearing had the accused apply for probation after an arrest warrant as issued by the Court for her failure to attend the previous Court hearings. MTCC 3 Presiding Judge Alexis Zerrudo denied said appeal.
Upon the immediate order for her arrest, authorities present approached Naces. She did not resist the team of arresting officers.
