Gender Planning & Analysis Workshop held for Capitol GAD Team
A Gender Planning & Analysis Workshop for Capitol Gender Advocacy (GAD) Team was held on March 21-22, 2007 as sequel of the Gender Sensitivity Training conducted on March 6-7, 2007.
This two-day activity focused on gender mainstreaming as part of the planning development of various projects and activities which promote full participation of women to address gender inequalities and to bring changes in women's lives.
With the aid of two resource persons, Ms. Cynthia Lumampao from National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region VI and Ms. Fe Q. Salcedo, a free-lance international consultant, who are both undergone extensive training and experience in Gender and Development, the Team (GAD) has learned some tools in gender mainstreaming that equips them with knowledge and skills to help the local government units (LGUs) address the gaps and problems that confront them in their gender mainstreaming efforts.
The Team's planning prowess using the gender lens was tested when they were required to make a gender responsive situational analysis and objective setting with corresponding development and gender indicators using the province's strategic development plan specifically in fields of Peace and Order, Employment Generation, Food Security, Effective Local Governance, and Health Development as part of the workshop.
The planning workshop has enabled the Team to identify gender responsive indicators as the basis for responsive planning. They also recognized entry points in mainstreaming gender and analyze/ develop gender-responsive programs and projects and learned tools and techniques in gender mainstreaming in the development process.
As final output, the Team has come up with a Re-entry Plan to be undertaken this year. These include the operational Minding Center, Gender Sensitivity Training for Men in Managerial and Supervisory level at the Capitol, Learning Visits and giving out financial assistance for Women's Project.
