Top cop in Lambunao up for relief as Estancia police force faces 'overhaul'
A senior police officer assigned at the Lambunao Police Office faces relief and is set to be temporarily detailed at the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) headquarters in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
This, as a similar recommendation is also up on the entire police force of Estancia Police Office for relief of the police officers currently assigned here and to effect a complete 'overhaul' of the town's police force.
The confirmation was reached by The News Today (TNT) from Commission on Elections (Comelec) acting Provincial Director Elizabeth Doronilla who added that final nod is being awaited from the Comelec Central Office.
Subject of the recommendation for relief from current assignment is Senior Police Officer (SPO)3 Jose Bedonia as per request of IPPO Director Senior Superintendent Melvin Mongcal. Estancia police on the other hand will have to be 'cleaned-up' if only to ensure a more effective police work at the height of campaign period.
To note, Estancia has since generated a lot of media attention with the heated early campaign exchanges of the camp identified with re-electionist Mayor Rene Cordero and his expected opponent, retired Police Chief Superintendent Restituto Mosqueda.
"What we are after here is to maintain peace and order in Estancia," Doronilla explained. "For now the situation there is still under control, daw nagtawhay gani subong (seems like it is all peaceful for now). Gusto naton nga ma-contain ang sinabad (we want to contain) of both camps... so the recommendation for the relief is not only for the chief of police but whole police force for them to be more effective."
