PRO 6 distributes 10 patrol cars
To beef up the mobility of police units in the region, ten units of 4x2 Toyota patrol jeeps called the “Calderon Troopers” were turned over yesterday to six city and provincial police offices in a simple ceremony held at the Police Regional Office 6 Headquarters.
PRO 6 regional director Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay said, the PNP last year acquired 696 troops carriers, trucks, patrol cars and motorcycles collectively called as the Calderon Troopers in recognition of the efforts made by Director General Oscar C. Calderon to improve the PNP's logistical needs.
The PNP Command has fielded 176 troops-carrier vehicles to beef up the mobility requirements of the regional offices.
“These ten vehicles will compose the backbone of the police mobile assets in Region 6 that will see action in the coming months in preparation for our election duties in the May 2007 National and Local Polls,” Dulay added.
The recipients of the patrol jeeps were the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Iloilo City, Bacolod City and the 6th Regional Mobile Group.
Likewise, two hundred (200) 9MM pistol (Taurus) were distributed to augment the firepower of lower units. (PIO-PRO6)
