Top NPA 'amazona' among the dead in Lambunao encounter
A top official of the communist-terrorists New People's Army (NPA) Central Front Committee was among the reported fatalities in last Monday's encounter in Lambunao, Iloilo.
With help secured from the locals in identifying the rebel, the Army through Capt. Lowen Gil Marquez of the 3rd Civil Relations Group disclosed her identity as Adora Fe De Vera alias Ka Vida, Central Front Committee secretary.
Another fatality was also identified as a certain Ka Gomez from Fundidor Molo, Iloilo City, newly-wed Ka Jasmin, two Diaz brothers and four unknown others.
This, as last week's death of an Army soldier has been hailed by the hierarchy of the Philippine Army.
In a press release, Private First Class (PFC) Norlie Catedrilla Camelon of the “Warrior” company of the 47th IB, 3ID was called a hero for leading nine fellow soldiers in attacking some 27 communist-terrorists in Lambunao, Iloilo.
Further to the soldier's heroism, the 3rd Civil Relations Group of the AFP here hailed, was the significant recoveries made in the encounter site among which were copies of Permit to Campaign (PTC) cards issued by the rebel group.
Reading materials left in haste by the fleeing injured communist-terrorists include “Liberation International” of the National Democratic Front (NDF).
“This direct, documentary evidence gathered is an additional evidence to be submitted to the proper forum in order to disqualify the progressive party list group of the CPP/NPA/NDF,” the Army news release went.
It also went to reveal botched plan of the rebels for an attack when it marked its anniversary last March 29th.
“The communist terrorists were planning to conduct a tactical offensive in celebration of their 38 years of terrorism anniversary in Panay Island but it failed due to the detection of their movement reported by the masses in Barangay Sagcop,” excerpts of the Army news release went. “The death of PFC Norlie Camelon will be the burning torch in continuing the mission of the AFP in Region 6 to defend the Constitution and the Filipino masses against terrorism, extortion ad oppression perpetrated by the fascist CPP/NPA/NDF.”
