Peace covenants up as Bombo Radyo launches 'Debate sa Bombo'
Bombo Radyo Iloilo launched yesterday "Debate sa Bombo," a live and on-air forum for candidates in the forthcoming May elections.
A network initiative and in compliance with Comelec Resolution 7767, free airtime will be given to guest bets of the city and province vying for elective posts as councilor, mayor, vice mayor, congressman, board members, vice-governor and governor.
Principal thrust is "to provide the public with an avenue to vote wisely by listening to the platform of government and the positions taken by the contending candidates on the various issues and concerns that are brought before them for their comment."
"Debate sa Bombo" will be held during the Zona Libre Program's Wednesday and Saturday edition at 7 to 8 in the evening with the program's anchorman, Roger Gencianeo as moderator.
Guest panelists from the print media or from civic, religious and business sectors will also be invited.
No representative or spokesman will be allowed as substitute for the invited candidate just as no armed member of the candidate's entourage will be allowed.
Serving as highlight of the debate is the signing of a peace covenant by the candidates all for a "peaceful, clean and honest elections."
