Malabor: Admin's money difficult to match
Malabor
The local opposition group fears the administration party will make use of their money in order to ensure victory in the coming May polls.
Congressional candidate Mansueto Malabor, a former city mayor, said the move is already evident with the reported offer of the incumbent officials of half a million worth of projects and incentives for barangay captains who can deliver votes in favor of administration candidates.
Malabor said the financial capability of the Gonzalez-Treñas tandem is something that the barangay leaders could not just ignore.
Malabor said the juicy offer could be considered a form of indirect bribery.
Of the 180 barangay captains in the city, it was learned that 176 are supportive of the administration party headed by re-electionists Cong. Raul Gonzalez and Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Malabor said the people should remember that the offer will not benefit the barangay but the barangay officials themselves.
With the promised incentives comes the effort of the barangay captains to impose on their constituents the candidates to vote.
Malabor, however, appealed on the city electorates not to be bought by money nor swayed by the empty promises of some politicians.
