Candidates going on solo campaign
With five days more to campaign, each candidate is rushing to sell themselves to the electorates leaving some of their companions in their ticket. Number of candidates noticed how some of their ticket mates went on a solo flight to campaign.
A neophyte candidate from the administration party said they could not rely on the help of the incumbent candidates to win the hearts and minds of the electorates this May 14 polls. They are only campaigning for themselves and not their entire ticket.
The same candidate said the incumbent officials are not also distributing the campaign materials containing the names of the entire candidates of the USWAG group. Candidates usually distribute only their respective campaign materials.
Nevertheless, the same candidate said they will also exert their own effort to win in this May 14 elections. It will depend on the voters whom to vote, he said. The neophyte candidates are also asking for the help of the Ilonggos that they be given the chance to serve.
Meanwhile, congressional candidate of the so-called opposition former Mayor Mansueto Malabor is once again left behind by people he thought could be of help to his candidacy. Since last week, Senator Franklin Drilon openly endorsed former Councilor Benjie Gengos for congressman.
Gengos was Drilon's first choice to be the opposition's candidate for congressman. However, the opposition group did not favor the decision endorsing instead Malabor for congressman. It is the second time that Malabor will run as congressman for the lone district of Iloilo.
