Tribu Ilonganon, Sinulog performers figure in brawl
It seems that the fight between Iloilo's Tribu Ilonganon and Sinulog of Cebu did not end after the Aliwan Fiesta in Manila. Members of the groups reportedly figured in a brawl in Santiago City, Isabela.
The two tribes competed in the recent Aliwan Fiesta in Manila where Sinulog got the first place and Tribu Ilonganon of the Dinagyang Festival got the second place.
Sketchy reports emanating from one of the members of the tribes said one of the warriors of Tribu Ilonganon was beaten by members of the Sinulog tribe. He was brought in one of the hospitals in Santiago City. The performer whose name is not yet available reportedly suffered a rib injury because of the fight. The trouble started with just a stare from the performers. The two tribes were invited by Isabela City to perform. After the Aliwan Fiesta, they went to Isabela City.
Reports added that the members of Tribu Ilonganon also fought back after one of their companions was beaten. In return, three members of Sinulog also suffered injuries.
Dinagyang Executive Director and concurrent City Tourism Officer Ben Jimena was not available for any comment regarding the incident which put both tribes in bad light. Jimena is still in Manila and is set to arrive today (Tuesday).
