Cops ready for school opening
Police Regional Office (PRO 6) Director Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay Sr. ordered all chiefs of various police units in the region to implement "Oplan Balik Eskwela" in line with the forthcoming school opening.
"Oplan Balik Eskwela" aims to maximize police visibility and traffic management to ensure public safety in areas where people are expected to converge, especially in schools, universities, malls and terminals.
The services of barangay tanods and civilian volunteer organizations will also be tapped to augment the security in their respective areas.
Earlier, Police Public Assistance Centers have been established in strategic places within the city to immediately respond in cases of untoward incidents during enrollment and eventually the opening of classes as unscrupulous people may victimize new comers.
This is also in anticipation of the occurrence of fraternity related incidents, street crimes, and traffic problems among others.
Beat patrol policemen will also be deployed to secure students and the public in general from pickpockets, thieves and robbers, Dulay added.
Meanwhile, the Regional Traffic Management Office will also put in place traffic and security control measures in coordination with school officials and universities, business establishments and other government agencies.
Dulay, however, reminded everyone to be security conscious and be keen of the presence of suspicious personalities roaming in their locality.
"Report to the nearest police stations or dial 166 if you are in need of police assistance," he said.
