Treñas to Ganzon: Ceasefire!
City Mayor Jerry Treñas has asked his political ally Councilor Jeffrey Ganzon to stop hitting fellow Councilor Perla Zulueta to put an end to the simmering word war.
Treñas told City Hall reporters that he asked Ganzon for a "ceasefire".
He asked Ganzon to stop issuing statements which could further trigger a fight between him and Zulueta.
Last week, Ganzon and Zulueta figured in a word war over a radio station. The fight started when Ganzon accused Zulueta of opposing his plan to increase the allowances of teachers and policemen.
Ganzon also wanted that the committee on ways and means, which Zulueta currently holds, be given to him when the new set of Sangguniang Panglungsod members assume their post.
Zulueta appeared not contented that the committee on ways and means will fall on Ganzon's hands saying the latter is not competent to have it.
The two exchanged nasty words against each other in separate radio and television interviews.
The chief executive did not comment on who's at fault but said he will do everything to solve the conflict between Ganzon and Zulueta. Ganzon is one of the councilors who ran and was reelected under Trenas's group, the USWAG-Lakas-CMD group.
Zulueta, on the otherhand, is a member of the opposition. She and elected Councilor Lex Tupas are only two of the candidates from the opposition group who won in the May 14 polls.
Vice Mayor Guillermo Dela Llana also appealed to the two councilors to put an end to their bickering.
