PRO 6 joins National Flag Day celebration
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 director Chief
Supt. Wilfredo Dulay Sr. gives a plaque of
appreciation to Prof. Maria Elfeda Ecube.
The 3 Ls -- "lagay, lakad at lusot" and 3 Ps -- "pasikat, pabongga at paporma" highlighted the message of Professor Ma Elfeda R Ecube, Guest of Honor and Speaker, at Camp Delgado during the nationwide kick off ceremony of "Kalayaan 2007" in connection with the National Flag Day celebrations starting yesterday (May 28) to June 30, 2007.
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 invited Ecube to deliver a keynote message on the theme, "Araw ng Watawat": The Significance of Our Flag and Its Relevance in Our Struggles for Freedom and Nationhood.
"Today, by seeing the flag before us, the Philippines stands as an independent state, with restored freedom under the blessings of democracy. But, still, there seems to be a lack of high regard for true nationalism," stressed Ecube.
Ecube also counseled the police to strongly avoid the 3 Ls and neglect the 3 Ps and "ensure honesty and true service in the performance of our lawful duties and obligations, as persons or agents of persons in authority."
The holding of activities in connection with the National Flag Day is in response to the invitation of Emelita V Almosara, Officer-in-Charge of the National Historical Institute, to all government departments, agencies, offices, government owned and controlled corporations, instrumentalities and the local government units to observe this month long celebration.
Meanwhile, PRO 6 regional director Chief Supt. Wilfredo V. Dulay Sr. issued a directive to all police units in Region 6 to include in their regular Police Information and Continuing Education (PICE) the topics on nationalism, particularly on flag reverence and its relevance in our struggles for freedom and nationhood.
