Fake peso, dollar bills proliferate in Bacolod
Bacolod City -- The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is on the heels of suspects behind the recent proliferation of counterfeit peso and dollar bills.
BCPO chief Sr. Supt. Ronilo V. Quebrar said he is warning the public against getting victimized, urging Bacoleños to immediately report to authorities any incident involving fake money.
"We can possibly trace the sources of fake money easily if victims will immediately inform us about fake money going into their hands," Quebrar said.
Several persons were recently victimized by fake money at downtown Bacolod, he said, saying the source might be outside the city.
Quebrar said he is making coordination with police offices in other cities and towns through the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) to identify and locate those behind the modus operandi.
