Roxas City -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo lead the inauguration of the multi-million Water Treatment Plant in Capiz last Friday.
The President and other key officials from the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) unveiled the water treatment plant, which is part of the Metro Roxas Water Supply System Improvement and Expansion Project (MRWSSIEP).
The water treatment facility is part of the more than P686.54 million MRWSSIEP that aims to provide Capiceños adequate supply of quality water.
Included in the improvements of the water facilities of the Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) in MRWSSIEP are the development of the water source, construction of the treatment plant, three storage facilities, pumping stations and installations of 13.2 km transmission and 108 km distribution lines.
The Water Treatment Plant, located in Salocon, Panitan, Capiz, is capable of producing 30,000 cubic meters per day of clean and potable water.
The MRWSSIEP was funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and was included in the Provincial Cities Water Supply Project V of the LWUA.
Electricity and water for all barangays has been included in the Ten-Point agenda of the Arroyo administration.
"BEAT THE ODDS" had become the battle cry and agenda of President Arroyo until 2010.
The other thrusts include balanced budget, education for all, automated elections, infrastructure support, peace and order and job generation, among others.
President Arroyo's visit in Capiz last Friday was her 7th during her term as President of the Philippines. Her last visit was on December 7, 2005 during the opening of the province and city's "Sinadya sa Halaran" celebration.
